Welcome to my website. I am a designer and illustrator, creating prints, cards and homewares.

I began designing after moving home from London to a quiet hamlet in Hertfordshire. Initially I made greetings cards to sell at a local village market, as a way of getting to know the people in our community.

This led me to Childwickbury Arts Fair, set up by Christiane Kubrick (wife of the late filmmaker Stanley Kubrick). I took part regularly in the biannual art fair until it closed its doors in 2022. Over that time I received enormous encouragement from the other participants and I was inspired by their creativity. I now have a house full of art, pottery and textiles from people I first met there.

I have also been welcomed into the Creative Collective Pop-Ups community, where I have been permitted to “pop-up” with a group of like-minded artists, makers and small independent businesses. Alongside my design and illustration work, I am a freelance production designer, working under my maiden name, Melanie Allen. With over thirty years’ experience, I am best known for designing television series for both terrestrial TV and streaming channels. Find me at melanieallen.uk.
